Dear J.J. Pickle Early College Prep Community,

It is my great honor that I serve as your principal of this amazing school. It thrills me to be part of continuously enhancing the learning opportunities and experiences for ALL students. I want to make a difference in people’s lives through great care, love, and a vision of equity to positively impact academic, social, and emotional outcomes.

We are in the midst of challenging an unprecedented times, and I am ready to take this journey together!

I began my career in my home town Monterrey, Mexico as a middle school teacher. After graduating from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, I moved to West Texas, which is where I began teaching bilingual and dual language education. Over the last 32 years, I have served and supported students as a bilingual teacher, dual language, reading, and math coach, language arts specialist, bilingual coordinator, and administrator, so I have truly dedicated my entire life to Education. In this journey I discovered that given the encouragement, care, respect, and support, a person from any background can achieve anything. I understood early on that developing a sincere relationship with a child will open the doors to their academic improvement and the students development of brain power. As I transitioned to elementary leadership, I did so with great joy as I firmly believe that it is here where the foundations of quality literacy are the base of a strong academic life. Literacy will be at the heart of our curriculum/ our driving force for academic excellence. Providing daily opportunities to all students to read, write and speak in every content area will deepen their understanding and cognitive power in a more equitable setting.

As your principal, I will strived to ensure that every child, staff, and family is valued by highlighting their talents, helping them grow and lead.

We will continue the work with Math, AVID, Dual Language and SEL through the Innovation Zone.

As a principal, I also recognize how important it is to take care of ourselves, we need to be on our very best mentally, physically, and to do so, we must find a healthy balance between school and home. Online learning has really tested that balance and I think the practice of self care is important.

Once again, I am so thankful and blessed to have the opportunity to bring all that I have experienced and learned with me to this wonderful and unique community with a lot of history and its meaningful connection with the St John’s area.

As we move forward to a brand new school year, a start of a year like never done before, our connectivity will be essential as we all work together in this uncertain world to educate our children. Parents you play such an integral part of this journey.

En un un gran honor servir como la directora de esta fabulosa escuela. Me llena de emoción ser parte de la tarea de mejorar las oportunidades y experiencias de TODOS los alumnos. Es mi deseo hacer una diferencia en las vidas de las personas a mi alrededor através de cuidado, cariño, incluyendo la visión de equidad y asi obtener resultados positivos and el área académica, social y emocional.

Estamos viviendo en medio de tiempos sin precedentes y tomo esta tarea con gran responsabilidad!

Comencé mi carrera en mi ciudad natal de Monterrey, México como maestra de escuela secundaria. Al graduarme de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, me mudé al oeste de Texas y ahi empecé como maestra biligüe y de lenguaje dual. Obtuve mi maestría en Educación Bilingüe en Texas Tech University. En los últimos 32 años, he servido a los alumnos como maestra de primara, entrenadora de lectura y matemáticas, especialista en lectura y escritura, coordinadora bilingüe y administradora, asi que he dedicado toda una vida a la educación. En este viaje, he descubierto que, cualquier persona puede lograr lo que se propone y más cuando se le proporciona apoyo, cuidado y respeto. Muy temprano en mi carrera, comprendí que cuando se cultiva una relación honesta con un alumno, eso ayuda a que se habran las puertas para una educación de calidad y el desarrollo del poder cognocitivo. Al regresar a la administración primaria, lo hice con muchas alegría, ya que considero que es ahí donde se fundan los cimientos para una vida de éxito académico. Es por eso, que al proporcionar

oportunidades diarias de lectura, escritura y de índole oral, se fomenta la comprensión a un nivel más profundo especialmente si se hace en un ambiente de equidad.

Como directora, mi meta es asegurar que cada alumno, maestro y familia sean escuchados y valorados al reconocer y resaltar sus talentos y ayudarlos a crecer y tomar papeles de liderazgo.

Continuaremos la labor en Matemáticas, AVID, Lenguaje Dual y SEL a través de la Zona de Innovación.

Como directora reconozco la importancia de cuidarnos, ya que necesitamos estar en buena condición mental, de salud y para hacerlo, debemos encontrar un balance saludable entre la casa y la escuela. La enseñanza en línea ha puesto a prueba ese balance, por eso pienso que el cuidado personal es crítico para seguir adelante.

Una vez más les reitero que me siento muy agradecida por la oportunidad de brindar mi experiencia a esta maravillosa comunidad, la cual tiene mucha historia y una conexión significativa con el área de St. John.

Quiero que sepan que mi puerta está siempre abierta y estoy aquí para ayudarlos. No duden en mandar un mensaje por REMIND o un correo electrónico.

Al acercanos al inicio del año escolar; nos enfrentamos a un ciclo nunca antes visto en donde la conectividad y comunicación va a ser esencial al trabajar juntos para educar a nuestros niños en este mundo lleno de incertidumbre. Ustedes padres de familia tiene un rol esencial esta jornada que está por empezar.

Al mismo tiempo, tengo ganas de conocerlos mejor a ustedes , al personal y especialmente a los alumnos. Trabajare muy duro y permitir que mis acciones descubran mi historia y del compromiso que tengo con la escuela.

Cada historia cuenta y cada alumno va a ser escuchado.
